Pawel Świeboda joins ICFG as practice lead for neurotechnology

Brussels, September 20, 2023 – The International Center for Future Generations (ICFG) is honored to welcome Paweł Świeboda as practice lead for neurotechnology. His remarkable career spans science, research, government, and the European Commission. Having served as director general of the Human Brain Project and chief executive officer of Ebrains, he has led one of the world’s most extensive brain science research programs.

This leadership experience positions him well to develop ICFG’s neurotechnology program, together with our governance lead, Maria Koomen, to analyze the legal, ethical, and societal implications of neurotechnology and explore policy tools and governance models to ensure the technology is used to the benefit of society.

At the end of 2022, Marietje Schaake, international policy director at the Stanford Cyber Policy Center and a former member of the European Parliament, joined ICFG in a similar capacity to help build up the organization and its emerging technology governance program.
